What you need for a FIFA tournament

A FIFA tournament needs more than consoles and a copy of the game. You also need enough screens, controllers, cables and power access to keep matches moving, plus registration materials and clearly labelled equipment. For catering, plan cups, plates, serving utensils, chilled drinks and snacks for the full event. Buy or collect prizes early, and test every console, controller and network connection before players arrive.

Tips

  • Allow one playable setup for every match running at the same time, with one spare controller and at least one spare HDMI cable available. Test the complete console-and-screen combination before the tournament.
  • Use one registration clipboard, pen and name sticker per registration point. Print the match schedule before opening and keep at least 5 extra copies for replacements or last-minute changes.
  • Bring enough power strips and extension cords to reach every screen and console without daisy-chaining them. Keep charging stations in one clearly marked area so controllers do not disappear between rounds.
  • Chill drinks for at least 4 hours before the start. As a working quantity, plan 2 to 3 drinks per person for the first hour, then add about 1 drink per person for each additional hour.
  • Collect prizes and tournament materials at least 1 day before the event. Charge controllers and consoles overnight, then check the game software and network connection again on the day.
