What to buy for a darts tournament

A darts tournament needs more than dartboards and arrows. You will also need reliable scoring equipment, clearly marked throwing lines, registration and printing supplies, refreshments, and enough servingware for the full field. Check quantities against the number of players, boards and matches before shopping. Arrange spare points, extension leads and power strips early: these are easy to overlook and difficult to replace once the venue is open.

Tips

  • Plan one dartboard and one dart mat for every match played at the same time, then check that each board has suitable lighting and a clear throwing line. Keep spare points available for damaged or lost tips.
  • Prepare one printed score sheet per scheduled match, plus at least 10 extra sheets for corrections or rematches. Print the match schedule and registration information before opening the venue.
  • Provide one reusable cup per participant and volunteer, with at least 10 extra cups for replacements. For hot drinks, count one coffee cup per expected serving and keep thermos flasks ready so queues do not block registration.
  • Buy or prepare two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then add roughly one drink per person for each following hour. Chill drinks before doors open and use coolers where the venue has no nearby refrigerator.
  • Count serving bowls, platters, plates and cutlery against the number of players, volunteers and spectators who will eat. Set out waste bins before the first match so used cups and plates do not collect around the scoring tables.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need for a darts tournament?
For each simultaneous match, plan one dartboard, dart mat, set of arrows and scoreboard. Add suitable sign lighting, oche extensions if required, spare points, scoring sheets and a way to print the schedule.
How many dartboards do I need for a tournament?
You need one dartboard for every match running at the same time. For example, four matches in parallel require four boards and four dart mats; check the venue layout before ordering.
How many drinks should I buy for a darts tournament?
Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then about one additional drink per person per hour. Add extra capacity for referees, volunteers and spectators, and chill the drinks before opening.
When should I buy supplies for a darts tournament?
Check stock and place orders at least 7 days before the tournament, especially for dartboards, prizes and printing equipment. Do the final shopping 1 to 2 days beforehand so food and chilled drinks are fresh.
