What to Buy for an Animal Fair

An animal fair needs more than tables and refreshments. You also need separate supplies for animal care, transport, cleaning, registration and visitor flow. Plan drinking bowls, feed bowls, hay nets, towels, absorbent mats and gloves for the animals, then check that every enclosure has the right equipment before opening. For visitors, prepare reusable cups, coffee cups, plates, cutlery and serving items, with extra stock for busy periods.

Tips

  • Prepare at least one drinking bowl and one feed bowl for each enclosure, plus spare bowls for quick replacement. Fill water jugs shortly before opening and check them during the day.
  • Bring one transport box for every animal that may arrive separately, and add transport carts if boxes or enclosures must be moved across the venue. Label equipment by exhibitor where possible.
  • Use absorbent mats and ground cover under or around enclosures, and keep cleaning buckets, towels, animal scoops and nitrile gloves together in a clearly marked cleaning area.
  • For refreshments, count one reusable cup or coffee cup per expected serving, then add roughly 10% spare stock. Bring serving trays, soup ladles, coffee machines and kettles where the menu requires them.
  • Keep registration supplies and visitor equipment separate from animal-care items. Set up the registration desk, signage, name badges and contact list before exhibitors arrive, so late arrivals do not block the entrance.

Frequently asked questions

How many water bowls do I need for an animal fair?
Plan at least one drinking bowl per animal enclosure, with one or two spare bowls for replacements. Check and refill them shortly before opening and at least every two hours during the fair.
How much extra tableware should I buy for an animal fair?
Count the expected servings for cups, plates and cutlery, then add about 10% spare stock. This covers dropped items, unexpected visitors and extra coffee or food servings without requiring an urgent refill.
When should I prepare animal enclosures and cleaning supplies?
Set up enclosures, ground cover, mats and rest stalls before exhibitors begin unloading. Put cleaning buckets, scoops, towels and gloves in place at least 60 minutes before opening.
What should I pack for transporting animals to a fair?
Use a suitable transport box for each animal that needs one and provide a transport cart for heavy or multiple boxes. Check the boxes, bowls and any required animal documents before the event day, not at the entrance.
