Water Skiing Day Checklist

A water skiing day depends on more than booking the course. You need a confirmed participant list, signed waivers, transport, suitable clothing and correctly sized safety equipment before anyone gets on the water. Plan the barbecue and drinks around the activity, not the other way around, and leave time for arrival, registration and the safety briefing. This checklist puts the main decisions and setup steps in a workable order.

Tips

  • Confirm the water ski course and final participant list at least 7 days before the event. Use that list to check waivers, dietary requirements and the number of wetsuits, helmets and life jackets needed.
  • Send clothing instructions with the invitation, including swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. Tell participants to arrive 30 minutes before the water session for registration, changing and the safety briefing.
  • Check the weather forecast 48 hours before the event and again on the morning itself. Keep the course confirmation and a clear cancellation or rescheduling plan available instead of waiting until participants are already travelling.
  • Load water skis, helmets, life jackets, wetsuits, towels and the first aid kit before leaving. Pack waterproof phone cases separately so phones are protected without being taken onto the water unnecessarily.
  • Set up the barbecue and buffet after the equipment and arrival area are ready. Chill drinks for at least 4 hours, and allow 30–45 minutes to arrange tables, chairs, serving platters, utensils and waste bins.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book a water skiing course?
Book the course at least 4–6 weeks ahead, especially for a weekend or a larger group. Confirm the reservation again 48 hours before the event after checking the forecast and participant numbers.
What should I bring to a water skiing day?
Bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes and any required personal medication. The event setup should also cover water skis, helmets, life jackets, wetsuits, a first aid kit and waterproof phone cases.
How early should participants arrive for water skiing?
Ask everyone to arrive 30 minutes before the booked water session. This allows time to find parking, register attendance, collect equipment, change and attend the safety briefing without delaying the group.
When should I prepare the food and drinks for a water skiing event?
Shop and prepare barbecue products the day before where possible. Chill drinks for at least 4 hours, then set up the barbecue and buffet once the group has completed the water activity or when the arrival area is ready.
