What you need for an UNO tournament

A smooth UNO tournament needs more than a deck of cards. You’ll need one playable UNO game for each table, spare cards, printed score sheets, pens, table numbers, and clearly displayed rules. Food and drinks are easier to manage when you plan for the full event rather than just the opening round. Use this list to check what must be bought, borrowed, printed, chilled, or packed before participants arrive.

Tips

  • Plan one UNO game for every active table, plus at least one spare game in case cards go missing or a deck is incomplete. Check every deck before the event, including the Joker cards.
  • Prepare one score sheet and one pen set for each table per round, with at least 10% extra copies and pens. Print the game rules and place one rule card at every table.
  • For drinks, allow two to three drinks per person during the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Chill drinks the day before and keep a separate supply in coolers.
  • Set out one reusable cup, plate, and cutlery set per participant, plus 10% extra for replacements. Provide serving spoons for every buffet dish so guests do not use personal cutlery.
  • If prizes are part of the final, buy them at least one week ahead and keep them together with the tournament materials. Pack table numbers, the timer, printer supplies, extension cords, and power strips in one labeled box.

Frequently asked questions

How many UNO games do I need for a tournament?
Use one complete UNO game for every active table and bring at least one spare. For example, four simultaneous tables require five checked games in total.
How many score sheets and pens should I prepare?
Prepare one score sheet and one pen set per table for each round, then add at least 10% extra. For four tables and five rounds, pack 22 score sheets and five pen sets.
How much food and drink should I buy for an UNO tournament?
Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for every additional hour. Buy or prepare about 10% extra food and tableware to cover spills, seconds, and late changes.
When should I buy prizes and chill the drinks?
Buy the prizes at least one week before the tournament so replacements are still possible. Chill drinks the day before, then top up the coolers when the venue opens.
