What you need for a table tennis camp
A table tennis camp needs more than tables, bats and balls. You also need enough scorekeeping supplies, registration equipment, seating, refreshments and power access to keep matches moving. Plan the shopping around the number of participants, then check which venue items are already available. Drinks should be chilled before participants arrive, while food, cups and serving equipment need to be ready for breaks without blocking the playing area.

Tips
- Plan at least one table tennis table for every two players in a match rotation, and check that each table has a net before setup begins. Keep spare balls and paddles available because damaged or missing equipment can stop a session.
- Prepare one scorecard per scheduled match, plus 10 extra for mistakes or rescheduled games. Pack scoreboards, stopwatches and pens together so officials do not have to search during the tournament.
- For drinks, allow 2β3 servings per participant for the first three hours, with extra water for the warm-up. Chill them in coolers before opening the venue and place waste bins near the registration and refreshment areas.
- Set aside one registration place with a laptop, printed participant list and parent information. Bring an extension cord and power strip if registration or printing depends on mains power, and test them at least 30 minutes before check-in.
- Buy or prepare food that can be served quickly between matches. Count one plate, cup and set of reusable cutlery per participant, then add 10% spare tableware for volunteers, guests and replacements.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a table tennis camp?
- For each active playing area, plan a table, net, paddles and balls, plus scoreboards, scorecards, stopwatches and spare balls. Add cones, hoops and whistles for the joint warm-up, and keep prizes ready if the camp includes a tournament.
- How many table tennis tables do I need for a camp?
- Use one table for every two players who need to play at the same time. For example, 20 players require 10 tables for full simultaneous play; fewer tables work if you schedule matches in rounds.
- How much food and drink should I buy for a table tennis camp?
- Allow 2β3 drinks per participant for the first three hours, including water for the warm-up, and add about 10% for coaches and volunteers. Plan one serving of food per participant, with extra portions if the camp runs through a meal period.
- What should I prepare for table tennis camp registration?
- Set up one registration desk with a laptop, participant list, parent information and any printed schedules. Have the desk ready at least 30 minutes before arrival, and bring a printer, extension cord and power strip if documents still need printing on site.
