What you need for a six-event competition
A six-event competition needs more than the equipment used in the games. You also need practical supplies for registration, scoring, teams, refreshments, weather protection and a safe setup. This shopping list covers the items to buy or bring, from ropes, cones and stopwatches to coolers, tables and first-aid supplies. Check quantities against your participant count and the number of teams before shopping, because shared equipment is easy to underestimate.

Tips
- Plan one registration point with a desk, printed team cards, score sheets and enough pens or markers for the people checking participants in. Set it up at least 60 minutes before the first event.
- For outdoor games, bring several marker discs and cones for each station rather than moving one small set between games. This keeps the six-event schedule running without 5- to 10-minute delays.
- Prepare a separate equipment bundle for every game, including items such as relay batons, buckets, sponges, hoops, jump sacks or blindfolds. Label each bundle before arrival so volunteers can set up in 15 minutes instead of sorting equipment on site.
- Keep drinks and perishable snacks in coolers, and chill drinks at least 4 hours before the competition. Include water cups for games separately from drinking cups so they are not used up during the first round.
- Pack weather and safety supplies before the event day: party tents, plastic sheeting, extension cords, power strips, a first-aid kit and ice packs. Check the forecast 24 hours beforehand and keep a dry backup area available.
Frequently asked questions
- How much equipment do I need for a six-event competition?
- Plan equipment by station, not only by participant. For a smooth setup, prepare one complete kit per game and add at least 10% spare items for consumables, damaged equipment or missing pieces.
- How many tables and chairs are needed for a six-event competition?
- Allow one registration desk, one table for each buffet or refreshment point, and enough seating for people waiting between rounds. As a starting point, provide one chair per seated guest and add 10% if the schedule has longer breaks.
- When should I buy drinks and prepare the shopping list?
- Finalise the shopping list at least 3 days before the competition and do the main shop 1 to 2 days beforehand. Chill drinks at least 4 hours before guests arrive, while cut fruit and vegetables are best prepared on the same day.
- What should I bring if the six-event competition is outdoors?
- Bring party tents, plastic sheeting, cones, marker discs, coolers, a first-aid kit and ice packs, plus extension cords if power is needed. Recheck the weather 24 hours before starting and keep a covered area ready for equipment and participants.
