Quiz relay shopping list

Tips

Plan one drinking glass and one plate per participant, then add roughly 10% extra for breakages, misplaced items and second servings. Do the same for reusable coffee cups if coffee or tea will be available throughout the quiz.
Buy or bring at least one pen per team, plus two or three spares at the scoring table. A missing pen can hold up an entire relay round, while extra scoreboards and clipboards keep teams moving when materials are misplaced.
Chill drinks several hours before doors open rather than relying on the coolers at the last minute. Fill the coolers before setup and keep a separate supply available for refills during the event.
Test the laptop, projector, projection screen, portable speakers and wireless microphone together at least 60 minutes before participants arrive. Pack extension cords and power strips with the equipment so a distant quiz station is not left without power.
Prepare buffet serving platters and serving tongs before the food arrives, and set out coffee makers, kettles and thermos flasks before the first team is guided to a station. This avoids leaving the drinks area unattended during registration.
