Practice match shopping list

A practice match needs more than footballs and a match ball. Plan the field-marking supplies, spare equipment, changing-room items and refreshments before match day, so one missing cable, pump needle or serving bowl does not delay setup. This checklist covers the practical items to buy or bring, from cones and bibs to cups, coolers and thermos flasks. Use the player and volunteer numbers to adjust quantities, especially for drinks, snacks and seating.

Tips

  • Bring at least one hand pump and two spare ball pump needles. Check them before leaving; a pump without a working needle is useless when several footballs need air.
  • Allow two to three reusable cups per person if you are not washing them during the match. Add plates, cutlery sets and small bowls for snacks, plus serving platters for shared food.
  • Take two extension cords and power strips for coffee machines and kettles, but confirm the venue’s available sockets first. Pack thermos flasks so hot drinks remain available during the match.
  • Pack spare shoelaces for at least two players and check the ball net before transport. These small items are easy to forget and difficult to replace once teams are at the field.
  • Bring field marking paint, a field marking cart, measuring tape and marker cones together in one setup kit. Check reserve nets before match day and include them if the goals or nets are not guaranteed to be ready.
