Pentecost Camp Shopping List

A Pentecost camp needs more than tents and sleeping bags. You will also need cooking equipment, reusable tableware, coolers, lighting, power supplies and materials for group activities. Plan quantities around your group size, then add a small reserve for broken, lost or wet items. Check dietary requirements before shopping, and pack camp boxes by activity so cooking and registration do not depend on one last-minute search.

Tips

  • Count one reusable plate, bowl, cup and cutlery set per participant, then add 10% spare items. This covers drops, missing pieces and late additions without forcing you to wash dishes during every meal.
  • Plan cooler space before buying food. Keep separate coolers for drinks and perishables, and prepare vegetables and fruit in advance so the first meal does not depend on finding cutting boards and knives at the campsite.
  • Match cooking capacity to the group size: use enough large cooking pots and gas burners to prepare the planned meal in one or two batches. Bring measuring cups and serving spoons with the kitchen box, where they are easy to find.
  • Pack one sleeping mat and sleeping bag per camper, plus a ground tarp for every group tent. Check tent pegs, guy ropes and storage crates before loading; these small items are often noticed only after the first tent is already standing.
  • Prepare lighting and charging before departure. Test glowing lamps, extension cords and power banks at least one day ahead, and label activity boxes containing footballs, ropes, cones and water balloons so they can be distributed quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to buy for a Pentecost camp?
Plan for camping gear, cooking equipment, reusable tableware, coolers, lighting, charging supplies and activity materials. For each participant, allow one sleeping bag, one sleeping mat, one plate, one bowl, one cup and one cutlery set, plus 10% spare tableware.
How much spare tableware should I bring to camp?
Bring 10% more reusable plates, bowls, cups and cutlery sets than the registered number of participants. For 40 people, that means 44 of each item where practical.
When should I check the camping and cooking equipment?
Check tents, tarps, pegs, guy ropes, gas burners, gas cylinders, pots and coolers at least 3 days before loading. Test lighting and power banks no later than the day before departure.
How many drinks should I pack for the first camp day?
Allow 2 to 3 drinks per person for the first hour, then adjust the remaining supply to the programme, weather and meal plan. Keep extra water available for sports activities and warm weather.
