What to Buy for a Laser Tag Party
A laser tag party needs more than laser tag sets. You will also need a simple system for teams, registration, drinks, snacks, and a safe playing area. Plan equipment for every player, plus a few spares if the venue or rental company allows it. Keep food and drinks separate from the game field, and check charging, power, and lighting at least one day before the party.

Tips
- Count one laser tag set and one team bib for every confirmed player, then ask about one or two spare sets before finalising the rental. Test every set and charger before guests arrive.
- Bring enough drinks for the full program: plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour and one drink per person for each additional hour. Chill them in coolers before setup starts.
- Prepare food that can be served quickly between rounds. Allow two to three snack portions per guest, and keep plates, reusable cups, cutlery, serving platters, and tongs together on the catering table.
- Pack power supplies before leaving: chargers, extension cords, power strips, and power banks are easy to overlook. Charge the tablet, speaker, and laser tag equipment the night before, not during guest arrival.
- Bring cones and obstacles to define the field, plus stopwatches and whistles for round control. Set up LED lamps, decorations, tables, and the welcome sign at least 45 minutes before the first player arrives.
Frequently asked questions
- How many laser tag sets do I need for a party?
- You need one set per confirmed player, so 12 players require 12 sets. Ask for one or two spare sets if the supplier has them, especially when children may be joining.
- How many drinks should I buy for a laser tag party?
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one additional drink per person for every extra hour. For 15 guests and a two-hour party, that means roughly 45 to 60 drinks, depending on size and weather.
- How much food do I need for a laser tag party?
- Allow two to three snack portions per guest, plus cake if it is part of the plan. For 15 guests, prepare about 30 to 45 portions and place them out between rounds rather than before the game.
- When should I charge the laser tag equipment?
- Charge the laser tag sets, speaker, tablet, and power banks the night before, at least 8 to 12 hours ahead. Test the equipment again 45 to 60 minutes before participants arrive so there is time to replace or recharge anything.
