What you need for a Klaverjas evening
A Klaverjas evening needs more than card decks and a few tables. Plan the playing materials, registration supplies, drinks, coffee, snacks and prizes before shopping day. For each table, set out a Klaverjas deck, score sheets and pens, then keep spare materials at the registration table. Buy drinks and snacks according to your confirmed participant list, including dietary requirements, so nothing runs out during the rounds.

Tips
- Count one Klaverjas card deck, one score pad and at least two score pens per table, plus one spare deck and extra pens for the registration table.
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then add about one drink per person for each additional hour. Keep cold drinks in coolers before play starts.
- For coffee and tea, allow two cups per person for a three-hour evening. Bring both coffee cups and mugs, and check that you have enough kettles or coffee machines for the room.
- Buy snacks for the full participant list and add 10% extra. Provide plates, cutlery, serving platters and serving spoons before putting snacks on the tables.
- Prepare one prize for each planned prize category and keep the prizes together at the prize table. Buy them before the event week so the competition schedule and prize presentation can be finalised.
