What you need for a jury course

A jury course needs more than chairs and presentation equipment. You will need one complete course folder per participant, writing supplies, printed worksheets, working AV equipment, and a reliable coffee and water station. Catering quantities depend on the course length and confirmed registrations, so use the final participant list before ordering. Check dietary requirements at least one week ahead, and test the projector, microphone and speakers before participants arrive.

Tips

  • Prepare one course folder, notepad and ballpoint pen per participant, plus 10% extra for late registrations or damaged supplies. Print worksheets at least two days before the course so missing pages can still be replaced.
  • For a full-day course, plan around 2–3 cups of coffee per person and at least 1.5 litres of water per person. Chill drinks several hours before arrival and keep extra water available during breaks.
  • Count plates, cups, glasses, knives, forks and spoons against the confirmed registration list, then add 10% spare tableware. Serving utensils are easy to overlook when catering arrives in separate containers.
  • Bring the complete presentation setup: laptop, projector, screen, microphone, speakers and extension cords. Test every connection in the room at least 60 minutes before the first session.
  • Set up the registration desk with the attendance list, pens and course folders before doors open. Keep coat racks and a clearly labelled presentation table ready so arrivals do not interrupt the start of the course.

How much coffee and water should I buy for a jury course?

How many course folders should I prepare?
Prepare one complete course folder for every confirmed participant, then make 10% extra. Finish assembling them at least one day before the course so missing worksheets can be printed in time.
When should I check the projector and microphone?
Do a full AV test at least 60 minutes before participants arrive, using the actual laptop and presentation. Keep extension cords and backup connection options with the equipment.
