Golf match shopping list
Use this shopping list to prepare a golf match from registration through the prize presentation. Plan drinks and snacks for the full group, then check the catering equipment, tableware and course supplies before shopping. Golf balls, tees and scorecard holders are easy to overlook when attention is focused on bookings and start groups. Buy or gather everything at least two days before the match so missing items can still be replaced.

Tips
- Allow two to three drinks per player for the first hour, then one drink per hour after that. Keep extra water in coolers, especially if players will be on the course for several hours.
- Prepare one banana or comparable snack per player, plus 10% extra. Put the first batch out before the start and keep the remainder chilled so it does not sit in the heat.
- Check golf equipment player by player at least one day before the match. Have spare golf balls and tees available, and count one scorecard holder and one scorecard for every player.
- Match tableware to the catering setup before buying anything. Count one plate, dessert plate and cutlery set per guest, then add at least 10% extra for breakage, seconds and late arrivals.
- Set aside course and registration supplies separately from food and drinks. Course signs, barrier tape, pitchforks, calculators and notice boards are commonly forgotten because they are not part of the catering order.
Frequently asked questions
- How many drinks do I need for a golf match?
- Plan two to three drinks per player for the first hour and one drink per player for each additional hour. Keep at least 10% extra water available for hot weather or delays.
- How many golf balls and tees should I buy per player?
- Provide at least three golf balls and five tees per player, plus 10% spare stock. Players can lose balls during the round, so do not shop for exactly one ball per person.
- How much food should I buy for a golf match?
- Prepare one banana or snack per player for the course, with 10% extra. For a reception or buffet, plan one full serving per guest and allow extra portions for late arrivals and seconds.
- When should I buy the supplies for a golf match?
- Buy non-perishable supplies and check equipment two days before the match. Purchase fresh food and ice on the day before or the morning of the event, depending on storage and opening hours.
