Furniture market checklist
A furniture market needs more than tables and sellers. You need a clear exhibitor list, practical stall assignments, a loading plan and enough time to test payments before doors open. This checklist takes you from confirming the date and venue through promotion, shopping and setup. Use it to keep exhibitor information, signage, cash handling and refreshments on track, especially during the final 24 hours when small omissions can delay opening.

Tips
- Assign pitch locations only after registrations close, then send each exhibitor a confirmation with arrival details and the site layout. Leave clear access for transport carts and larger furniture.
- Set aside a dedicated loading and unloading area and cordon it off before exhibitors arrive. Without this, cars and vans can block the entrance while stalls are being marked.
- Test every payment terminal, extension cord and power strip before market day, and prepare a cash float at least one day in advance. Keep a written payment and cash-register procedure at the register.
- Make price tags and signs in advance, including stall or section markers. Bring spare signs, LED lamps and flashlights because indoor corners and early setup areas are often darker than expected.
- Chill drinks and prepare coffee equipment before opening, but check reusable mugs, glasses and serving items against the expected attendance. Dietary requirements should be collected during registration, not on the morning of the market.
Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance should I organise a furniture market?
- Start recruiting exhibitors and confirming the venue at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead. Open registration early enough to finalise the exhibitor list and assign pitches before promotion peaks.
- When should I assign furniture market stall locations?
- Assign locations after registrations close and no later than 5 to 7 days before the market. Send confirmations immediately so exhibitors can plan unloading and bring suitable transport equipment.
- How much setup time does a furniture market need?
- Allow at least 3 to 4 hours for opening the venue, marking stalls, building party tents and arranging tables, chairs and racks. Add extra time if large furniture must be moved manually.
- How many drinks should I prepare for a furniture market?
- For the first hour, plan on 2 to 3 drinks per person, then adjust for the total opening period and weather. Prepare coffee and chilled drinks separately, and keep a small reserve for exhibitors and volunteers.
