Farm Camp shopping list
A Farm Camp needs more than food and tents. You will need enough reusable tableware, chilled storage, cooking equipment, sleeping gear, lighting and activity materials for the full group. Check what the farm already provides before shopping, especially tables, chairs, gas burners and power access. Buy or collect supplies early enough to keep food cold, prepare sleeping areas and set up safely before participants arrive.

Tips
- Plan tableware for the full group plus at least 10% extra: reusable plates, bowls, cups and cutlery are easily misplaced during outdoor activities.
- Use enough coolers to keep perishable food chilled from collection through serving. Pack ice or cold packs separately and load the coolers shortly before departure.
- For overnight stays, check every participant has a sleeping bag, sleeping mat and a cushion before arrival. Keep a small reserve of spare bedding for forgotten or wet gear.
- Count lighting by area rather than by building: bring flashlights or headlamps for sleeping areas, paths and animal enclosures, and test string lights and extension cords before setup.
- Buy activity supplies only after groups and activities are assigned. That prevents bringing too few footballs or ropes for a group and lets you portion animal feed before participants arrive.
Frequently asked questions
- What food and drinks do I need for a Farm Camp?
- Plan meals and snacks for every registered participant and supervisor, then add about 10% extra for seconds and spills. For drinks, allow roughly 2 to 3 servings per person during the first hour and provide additional water throughout the day.
- How many camping tents and sleeping bags are needed for Farm Camp?
- Provide one suitable sleeping place per overnight participant, including a camping tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag unless accommodation is already reserved. Check the final registration list at least 3 days before the camp and keep one spare sleeping setup if possible.
- When should I buy supplies for a Farm Camp?
- Buy non-perishable food, tableware, lighting and activity equipment 3 to 7 days beforehand. Purchase fresh food as close to the start as practical, and load chilled items into coolers shortly before leaving.
- What should I bring for cooking at Farm Camp?
- Bring a complete cooking setup: coolers, cutting boards, chef sets, knives, serving spoons, kettles, gas burners and matching gas cylinders. Test the burners and pack serving platters and reusable tableware at least 1 day before setup.
