What you need for a crochet workshop

For a crochet workshop, participants need more than yarn and hooks. Prepare one complete supply set per person, plus samples and printed worksheets for the demonstration. You will also need serving items for soup, cake, fruit, coffee and tea, as well as name badges and basic room equipment. Check quantities against your registration list before shopping, then add a small spare supply for damaged or forgotten items.

Tips

  • Prepare one crochet hook, pair of scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers and measuring tape per participant, then add 10% spare pieces for breakage or missing items.
  • Buy enough yarn for each sample project and keep the yarn for demonstrations separate from participant supplies so it does not get used accidentally.
  • Print one worksheet folder and provide one clipboard and ballpoint pen per participant; print 2–3 extra copies in case someone spills a drink or loses a page.
  • Plan tableware for the full group: one mug and drinking glass per person, plus plates, cutlery and soup bowls, with at least 10% extra for replacements.
  • Check coffee, tea, soup, cake and fruit against the registration total 1–2 days before the workshop, including any dietary requirements collected during registration.

Frequently asked questions

How many crochet hooks do I need for a workshop?
Plan for one suitable crochet hook per participant, plus at least 10% extra. For 20 participants, that means 22 hooks so a lost or unsuitable hook does not interrupt the lesson.
How much crochet equipment does each participant need?
Give each participant one hook, scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers and measuring tape. Add a yarn bowl where needed, and prepare 1–2 complete spare sets for late registrations or missing supplies.
How many worksheets should I print for a crochet class?
Print one worksheet folder per registered participant and add 2–3 spare copies. Have the folders ready at least one day before the workshop so you can correct missing pages before arrival.
When should I buy food and drinks for a crochet workshop?
Confirm the final participant count and dietary requirements 1–2 days beforehand. Buy fresh cake and fruit as close to the workshop as practical, while coffee, tea and serving supplies can be checked earlier.
