What to bring for a club camp
A club camp needs more than tents and sleeping bags. Plan for sleeping places, shared meals, drinks, lighting, sound and a kitchen that still works when the weather changes. Count equipment by participant, then add a small reserve for breakages, late arrivals and dietary needs. This checklist helps you shop and gather everything before setup day, including items that are often forgotten until the first meal or after dark.

Tips
- Count one sleeping tent, mat and sleeping bag per person, then bring at least two spare sleeping places if the group size may change. Pack one pillow and one flashlight per camper as well.
- Plan reusable plates, bowls, cups and cutlery for every participant, plus roughly 10% extra. Coffee mugs are easy to miss, especially when breakfast is served before the main kitchen is fully set up.
- Allow a separate water jerry can for drinking and cooking, and check that the total capacity covers the whole group between refills. Bring coolers and thermos flasks before shopping for chilled drinks and hot coffee.
- For evening lighting, use LED lamps or string lights at the kitchen, entrance and sleeping area. Pack extension cords early and test the Bluetooth speakers, lighting and power connections before participants arrive.
- Pack cooking equipment as a complete set: gas burners, cooking pots, roasting pans, cutting boards, chefβs knives, serving spoons and mixing bowls. Check fuel and cooking capacity at least one day before departure, not after the tents are up.
Frequently asked questions
- How many camping items do I need per person for a club camp?
- Plan one sleeping mat, sleeping bag, pillow and flashlight per camper. Add at least two spare sleeping places for a small group, or about 10% extra when the group is larger or registrations may change.
- How much reusable tableware should I buy for a club camp?
- Prepare one plate, bowl, cup and cutlery set per participant, with 10% extra. For a group of 30, that means 33 of each shared item so a missing or dirty piece does not stop a meal.
- When should I buy and pack the club camp supplies?
- Buy non-perishable food, fuel and disposable backups at least 2β3 days before departure. Sort and test camping, kitchen, lighting and sound equipment the day before setup.
- What do people often forget for an overnight club camp?
- The usual gaps are pillows, flashlights, guy ropes, water jerry cans, coffee mugs, extension cords and cooking fuel. Check these items at least 24 hours before leaving, while there is still time to replace them.
