What you need for a children’s clothing fair
A children’s clothing fair needs more than tables and clothes racks. You will also need price tags, hangers, signs, payment equipment and a small refreshment setup for volunteers and shoppers. Plan your quantities around the number of sellers, rails and expected visitors, then check power and cash arrangements before the event day. The most commonly missed items are spare labels, extension cords, fitting-room mirrors and change for the sales counter.

Tips
- Prepare at least 10–15% more price tags and name stickers than the number of items or participants you expect. Extra labels cover handwriting mistakes, missing tags and last-minute additions.
- Allow one clothes hanger for every hanging item, plus roughly 10% spare hangers. Keep bins available for folded clothing so tables and racks do not become overcrowded.
- Bring at least two card readers if card payments are central to the sale, and prepare a cash float with coins and small notes before doors open. Test each reader and printer at least one day in advance.
- For a fitting area, provide one screen or partition per changing space, one bench per space and one mirror for every one or two spaces. Add clear direction signs so shoppers do not block the entrance.
- For coffee and tea, count one cup and one glass per expected serving, then add 10% spare tableware. Check that coffee machines, kettles, extension cords and power strips can be used safely at the venue.
Frequently asked questions
- How many clothes hangers do I need for a children’s clothing fair?
- Plan one hanger for every garment that will be displayed on a rack, plus 10% spare. For example, 200 hanging items require about 220 hangers.
- How many price tags should I buy for a children’s clothing sale?
- Buy enough for every item, with 10–15% extra. If sellers bring 500 items, prepare around 550–575 price tags so replacements are available.
- How much cash change should I prepare for the sales counter?
- Prepare a mixed float of coins and small notes before opening, based on the expected cash sales. Set it up at least one day ahead and keep the cash box separate from takings during setup.
- When should I check the card readers and printer?
- Test card readers, the printer, cables and power strips at least 24 hours before the fair. Pack spare paper, extension cords and a backup payment option with the equipment.
