Bowling Competition Shopping List
A bowling competition needs more than lanes and bowling balls. Plan supplies for registration, team organisation, scoring, refreshments, prizes and the award moment. For a group of 20, start with at least 30 reusable glasses, 24 plates and enough cutlery for every guest, plus a few spares. Check what the bowling centre already provides before buying match balls, scoreboards or spare cones. Order trophies, medal ribbons and other prizes early enough to arrive before the competition day.

Tips
- Prepare one registration pack per participant: a name badge, team or lane information and a pencil for scorekeeping. Print at least 10% extra scorecards and team sheets in case of changes or mistakes.
- For drinks, plan two to three servings per person for the first hour, then one to two servings per additional hour. Chill drinks before guests arrive and provide reusable glasses as well as coffee cups if refreshments run throughout the event.
- Buy or collect serving platters and serving tongs before the catering arrives. For 20 guests, have at least two buffet platters and two pairs of tongs available so food does not pile up on one serving dish.
- Keep competition equipment separate from reception and catering supplies. Pack scoreboards, scorecards, pencils, team bibs, match balls and spare cones in one labelled box, and test laptops, charging cables, extension cords and power strips the day before.
- Do not leave prizes and presentation materials until the last shopping trip. Check trophies and medal ribbons at least 7 days before the event, and keep balloons, the competition banner, tablecloths and name badges together for quick setup.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need to buy for a bowling competition?
- Plan supplies in five groups: registration, scoring, catering, prizes and decoration. For 20 participants, allow at least 22 name badges and scorecards, 30 reusable glasses, 24 plates and 22 cutlery sets, then add the required trophies, medal ribbons and team bibs.
- How many glasses and plates do I need for a bowling competition?
- For 20 guests, prepare at least 30 reusable glasses and 24 plates to cover refills, dropped items and staff. Add one cutlery set per guest plus 10% spare, so 22 sets for a group of 20.
- When should I order bowling competition prizes?
- Order trophies and medal ribbons at least 7 days before the competition. This leaves time to correct names, replace a damaged item or change the quantities after the final participant list is checked.
- How many scorecards and pencils are needed for a bowling competition?
- Prepare one scorecard and one pencil per participant, plus at least 10% spare. For 20 bowlers, print 22 scorecards and have 22 pencils ready; bring extra scoreboards if the centre does not supply them.
