Tips
- Allow at least one beach volleyball for every active court, plus two spare balls for the tournament. Pack a ball pump and several pump needles; a flat ball can otherwise delay the next match.
- Bring one scoreboard and a full set of scoreboard numbers for each court in use. Add printed scorecards, clipboards and markers so referees can record results even if the scoreboard is hard to see.
- Provide a team bib for every player who needs to be identified, with a few spares for late changes or damaged bibs. Keep team labels and participant information together at registration rather than at the courts.
- For a full outdoor day, plan a cool box and drinking-water storage near the playing area, plus towels for players and officials. A party tent, folding tables and chairs give registration staff and volunteers a usable shaded base.
- Test the speaker, wireless microphone, mixer and power supply before teams arrive. Take extension cords, power strips and a power bank, and keep cables away from wet sand and walking routes.
Frequently asked questions
- How many beach volleyballs do I need for a tournament?
- Plan one competition ball per active court and keep at least two spare balls available. For four courts, bring six balls so a puncture, wet ball or lost ball does not stop play.
- What scoring equipment is needed for a beach volleyball tournament?
- Each court needs a scoreboard, scoreboard numbers, a score clipboard, scorecards and a marker. Provide one whistle and one referee chair per court, plus spare markers and printed rules at the officialsβ table.
- How much shade and seating should I bring?
- Use at least one party tent for registration and officials, then add space for food or equipment if needed. Bring one folding chair per referee and volunteer who must sit, plus folding tables for registration and scoring.
- When should I check the tournament equipment?
- Check nets, posts, lines, balls and scoring gear at least 48 hours before the tournament. Test sound equipment and power the day before, leaving time to replace missing or faulty items.
