Tips

Plan at least one water bowl per walking group and bring enough water for the full route, plus extra for warm weather. Fill the jerry cans before volunteers arrive so no group leaves without water.
Bring one spare collar and leash for every 10 dogs, or at least two spares for a small walk. Check each leash and collar during packing rather than discovering a problem at registration.
Pack separate human and animal first-aid kits in clearly marked bags. Keep both at the registration desk and make sure a volunteer knows who is carrying them during the walk.
