What you need for an animal market

An animal market needs more than stalls and signs. You will need separate equipment for exhibitors, animal care, visitor flow, catering and temporary power. Plan animal crates, pens, fencing, feed and water alongside tables, barriers and lighting, so setup does not depend on a last-minute shop. Check quantities against the number of exhibitors, animal species, visitors and available power outlets before ordering.

Tips

  • Provide one suitable enclosure, crate or pen for each animal group, with extra space for separation when species or exhibitors must be kept apart. Add feed bowls, drinking bowls and hay bins rather than relying on shared containers.
  • Count market furniture by pitch before ordering. Each exhibitor may need a stall or table, while registration, catering, storage and veterinary support need separate tables and chairs.
  • Order extension cords, power strips and cable mats together. A shortage of cable protection becomes a trip hazard as soon as coffee machines, kettles, lighting and card machines are connected.
  • Keep visitor routes clear with crowd barriers, bollards or barrier tape. Set aside enough equipment to mark animal areas and prevent queues from blocking entrances, exits or emergency access.
  • Buy or reserve animal-care supplies before promotional materials and catering extras. Feed, water containers, crates, fencing and lighting are harder to replace quickly than ordinary disposable shopping items.

Frequently asked questions

How many animal pens do I need for an animal market?
Plan at least one pen or suitable enclosure for every animal group that must stay together. Add separate pens or crates for animals that cannot share space, plus one spare enclosure if the site allows it.
How much seating and table space is needed for an animal market?
Count one working table per exhibitor or pitch where products, documents or equipment must be displayed. Add separate tables for registration, catering and storage, then provide chairs for staff and exhibitors who will remain at their pitch for several hours.
How early should I order equipment for an animal market?
Confirm tents, stalls, pens, fencing and power equipment at least four weeks before the market. Check the final quantities one week before setup, when exhibitor numbers and animal species should be known.
What power equipment should I buy for an animal market?
List every powered item first, including coffee machines, kettles, hot drink urns, card machines and lighting. Have enough extension cords, power strips and cable mats for each connection route, and check the outlets at least one week before the event.
