Water Polo Tournament Shopping List

A water polo tournament needs more than balls, goals and swim caps. Plan supplies for the pool deck, officials, teams, spectators and the prize table, with separate storage for wet and dry items. Drinks, snacks and coffee are easy to underestimate when teams play several matches. Check power, lighting and weather protection before shopping, especially if the pool area has limited outlets or shelter.

Tips

  • Plan 2 to 3 drinks per person for the first hour, then 1 drink per person for each additional hour. Include water as well as other drinks, and chill them before teams arrive.
  • Provide at least 1 snack portion per participant and referee, plus 10% extra. Keep snacks separate from pool equipment and check collected dietary requirements before buying.
  • Take one waterproof folder for each scoring station, with spare paper and pens. Wet score sheets are difficult to replace once matches have started.
  • Count cups, plates and towels by role rather than by team only. Add at least 10% spare cups and keep a separate supply for referees, the table jury and first aid coverage.
  • Test the laptop, printer, sound system, microphone, extension cords and power strips at least 24 hours before the tournament. Pack rechargeable lamps as backup if matches or registration run into low light.

How much food should I buy for a water polo tournament?
Buy at least 1 snack portion per participant and referee, plus 10% extra. Add separate options for every dietary requirement collected during registration.
What should I bring for water polo match scoring?
Pack scoreboards, stopwatches, whistles, referee cards, waterproof score folders and spare writing supplies. Test the scoring setup at least 24 hours before the first match.
When should I chill drinks for the tournament?
Chill drinks the day before whenever possible, especially if several teams arrive at once. Put a second cooler aside for unopened stock so the serving supply stays cold throughout the tournament.
