What to buy for a volleyball camp

A volleyball camp needs more than volleyballs and a net. You also need training equipment, team markers, scoring supplies, drinks, snacks, and enough reusable tableware for the group. Check the venue’s existing equipment before shopping, especially nets, antennas, field-marking tape, and scoreboards. Buy or pack replacements for items that can stop the day, such as spare valves, pump equipment, and serving utensils.

Tips

  • Plan at least one game volleyball for each active court, plus training volleyballs so drills do not depend on the match balls. Add a ball bag to keep equipment together between sessions.
  • Count reusable cups, plates, and cutlery against the maximum number of participants and staff, then add roughly 10% extra. Cups are easy to misplace during a full training day.
  • Bring a spare valve and a balloon pump with the balls. A puncture or low-pressure ball can otherwise interrupt a drill while someone searches for a replacement.
  • Prepare separate equipment for each court: a net, mesh antennas, field-marking tape, marker cones, and a scoreboard. Pack team bibs and whistles where coaches can reach them quickly.
  • For food service, prepare a cooking pot, colander, cutting board, kitchen knife, kettle, pitchers, and serving utensils before the first meal. Chill drinks in the cool boxes early rather than waiting until the lunch break.

Frequently asked questions

How many volleyballs do I need for a volleyball camp?
For one court, prepare at least 3 to 6 volleyballs: one or two for play and the rest for drills and spare use. For multiple courts, repeat that amount per court and keep them in a ball bag.
What equipment is needed for volleyball camp training?
Basic training equipment includes training volleyballs, marker cones, a coordination ladder, team bibs, whistles, and a net with mesh antennas. Prepare these before participants arrive so the first session does not lose 15 to 20 minutes.
How much tableware should I buy for a volleyball camp?
Provide one reusable cup, plate, and cutlery set per participant and staff member, plus about 10% extra. For 30 people, that means at least 33 of each item if washing during the day is not planned.
When should I chill drinks for a volleyball camp?
Put drinks in cool boxes at least 4 to 6 hours before serving, using enough ice or cold packs to keep them cold through the first session. Check the boxes again before lunch and refill them during a break.
