Taekwondo tournament shopping list
A taekwondo tournament needs more than competition mats and medals. You also need enough protective equipment, scoring tools, furniture, printing equipment, power supplies and refreshments for the full event day. Check quantities against your rules, the number of rings and registered competitors before ordering. This list helps you spot easy-to-miss items such as spare batteries, extension cords, coach seating and serving supplies before setup begins.

Tips
- Match the number of competition mats, scoreboards, stopwatches and hand tally counters to the number of rings running at the same time, then keep at least 1 spare stopwatch available.
- Count protective gear by competitor capacity rather than expected attendance. Have enough head protectors, breast pads, arm guards, shin guards and red and blue competition vests for simultaneous matches, plus a small reserve.
- Plan one coach seat for every participating coach area and enough tables and chairs for registration, officials, catering and awards. Confirm the hall layout before collecting furniture.
- Test the laptop, printers, PA system and microphones together at least 1 day before the tournament. Bring extension cords, power strips and fully charged rechargeable power banks so the schedule and announcements do not depend on one outlet.
- For refreshments, count reusable cups, coffee cups, plates and cutlery for the expected competitors, coaches, officials and volunteers, then add roughly 10% extra. Arrange coffee machines and kettles where queues will not block registration.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a taekwondo tournament?
- At minimum, plan for competition mats, scoreboards, stopwatches, hand tally counters, protective equipment, tables, chairs, a laptop, printers, a PA system and microphones. The exact quantity depends on how many rings operate simultaneously and how many competitors are registered.
- How many taekwondo protective gear sets should I buy?
- Count the maximum number of competitors fighting at the same time and provide matching red and blue competition vests and protective gear for each bout. Add at least 1 spare set per gear type, or more if several rings run simultaneously.
- How much catering tableware do I need for a taekwondo tournament?
- Count one plate, cutlery set and reusable cup per expected guest, including competitors, coaches, officials and volunteers, then add about 10% extra. Provide coffee cups separately and check whether coffee machines and kettles can serve the expected queue.
- When should I order taekwondo tournament supplies?
- Order competition equipment, protective gear, medals and printed materials as soon as registration numbers and the rules are confirmed. Complete a full equipment check at least 1 day before the tournament, including electronics, cables, batteries and power banks.
