What you need for a streetball tournament
A streetball tournament needs more than basketballs and a court. You also need practical supplies for registration, scoring, team identification, sound, power, shade and first aid. Use the shopping list below to check every area before tournament day, then test powered equipment and chill drinks in advance. The exact quantities depend on the number of courts and players, but the planning points below help you avoid the items most often left until the last minute.

Tips
- Plan at least one basketball for each active court, plus one spare ball for every two courts. Check the balls, nets, portable systems and scoreboards at least one day before the tournament.
- Prepare one scoring and registration setup per active court: a table, chairs, scoreboard, game clock, forms and pens. Add a spare set of printed forms so a lost sheet does not stop play.
- Give every team a clear identifier, such as matching bibs or wristbands, and sort them before players arrive. Keep one extra set available for damaged or forgotten items.
- Count power needs before buying or packing sound and lighting equipment. Take extension cords, power strips and power banks, and test the speaker, microphone, mixer and laptop together at least 24 hours beforehand.
- Keep a first aid kit and ice packs at the jury table or another clearly marked point, not in a vehicle. Check them on the morning of the tournament and make sure one organiser knows where they are.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a streetball tournament?
- Bring basketballs, portable basketball systems if the court has none, cones, field marking tape, whistles, scoreboards, game clocks and team bibs. For administration, prepare tables, chairs, printed forms and a laptop or printer if you are handling registration on site.
- How many basketballs do I need for a streetball tournament?
- Use at least one game ball per active court and keep one spare for every two courts. For example, a tournament running on three courts should have at least five basketballs available, subject to your competition rules.
- What should I buy for the tournament jury table?
- Set up one table per active court with a scoreboard, game clock, match forms, pens and team identifiers. Add one spare printed pack and a power bank so the table can keep working if a device battery runs low.
- When should I prepare the streetball tournament supplies?
- Check the complete shopping list and sports equipment at least 48 hours before the event. Test sound, power and lighting at least 24 hours beforehand, and chill drinks on the day before the first games.
