What you need for a sitting volleyball tournament
A sitting volleyball tournament needs more than balls and a net. You also need practical supplies for match control, team identification, refreshments, registration and a smooth setup in the sports hall. Check the equipment before tournament day, especially net tensioners, scoreboards, whistles and extension cables. Plan food and drinks around the number of players, officials and spectators, then chill drinks and prepare sandwiches before the first match.

Tips
- Count one ball for each active court, plus at least two spare sitting volleyballs for quick replacements. Check the nets, posts, boundary tape and spare net tensioners before loading the equipment.
- Prepare one match-control set per court: a scoreboard, whistle, referee chair, match forms and a pen. Add extra printed forms in case a result is changed or a sheet goes missing.
- Bring enough team bibs for every participating team and a few spare bibs. Pionen, training mats and ball nets are easy to overlook but help with warm-ups, court organisation and storage.
- For refreshments, count two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Include players, officials and spectators in the total, not just registered teams.
- Pack power and communication equipment together: laptop, printer, microphone, mobile speaker, extension cables, power strips, charging cables and power banks. Test the printer and charge every battery before leaving for the hall.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a sitting volleyball tournament?
- For each court, plan for one sitting volleyball net, a set of net posts, balls, boundary tape, a scoreboard, a referee chair and a whistle. Add at least two spare balls and one spare net tensioner per tournament so a small equipment problem does not stop play.
- How many drinks should I buy for a sitting volleyball tournament?
- Buy two to three drinks per person for the first hour and one additional drink per person for every extra hour. Base the total on players, officials and spectators together, and add a small reserve for warm weather or delays.
- What should I prepare for tournament registration and results?
- Bring a laptop, printer, printed match forms, pens and spare paper. Pack the registration materials at least one day before the tournament and print extra forms equal to roughly 10% of the planned matches.
- How early should I check the sports equipment?
- Check nets, posts, balls, markings, scoreboards and electrical equipment at least 48 hours before the tournament. Do a final loading check on the day before, including charging cables, power banks and spare net tensioners.
