A shuffleboard afternoon needs more than boards and discs. Plan drinks and snacks for the full playing period, then add enough cups, plates and serving utensils for guests who rotate between rounds. Tips

  • Allow about 2–3 drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Include water in jugs and chill non-alcoholic drinks before guests arrive.
  • Prepare one scorecard for each playing group, plus at least 10% extra. Keep pens, prizes and wrapped awards at the registration desk so they do not get lost during the rounds.
  • Bring spare shuffleboard discs even when the venue supplies the equipment. A practical minimum is one spare set for every four tables, especially if several rounds run at once.
  • Check the power plan before shopping: coffee machines, kettles, lighting and a speaker may need separate outlets. Pack extension cords and power strips, but keep cables away from walkways.
  • Buy or pack snacks that can be served without interrupting play. Set out serving platters, tongs, plates and teaspoons, and reserve at least 10% extra tableware for breakages or late arrivals.
