Rugby Camp Shopping List

A rugby camp needs more than balls and cones. You also need reliable field equipment, hydration, shade, serving supplies, first-aid materials, and power for registration and announcements. Use the item list below to organise purchases and check what can be borrowed before camp day. Start with participant numbers, then add a small reserve for damaged gear, lost bottles, and unexpected weather.

Tips

  • Plan at least one rugby ball for every 6–8 participants, plus 2–3 spare balls. Check pumps and spare valves at least one week before camp, not on the morning of training.
  • Provide one water bottle per participant and keep extra drinking water available at every training area. Fill coolers before the first session and chill drinks several hours in advance.
  • For outdoor sessions, arrange party tents before the weather forecast becomes a problem. Allow enough covered space for registration, lunch, equipment, and participants who need a break.
  • Count training bibs, cones, and tackle equipment by group rather than by the whole camp. Prepare each training set separately so coaches are not searching for materials between sessions.
  • Test megaphones, the Bluetooth speaker, rechargeable lamps, extension cords, and power strips one day before camp. Bring charging cables and keep electrical equipment away from wet ground.

Frequently asked questions

How many rugby balls do I need for a rugby camp?
Plan one ball for every 6–8 participants during drills, with 2–3 spare balls for a typical camp group. Larger groups need additional balls so players spend less time waiting.
How much water should I provide at rugby camp?
Provide at least 2 litres of drinking water per participant for a full training day, adjusted upward for hot weather. Give each participant a water bottle and refill coolers before every session.
When should I buy rugby camp supplies?
Buy or reserve non-perishable equipment at least 1–2 weeks before camp. Purchase food, ice, and chilled drinks 1–2 days beforehand, then check all equipment again the day before.
What should I bring for lunch service at rugby camp?
Prepare plates, cutlery, reusable cups, serving spoons, tables, and enough seating for the full group. Add at least 10% extra tableware for replacements and unexpected participants.
