Pizza night shopping list

Use this shopping list to prepare a pizza night where guests build and bake their own pizzas. Buy ingredients by guest count, then allow extra for second pizzas and failed first attempts. The list also covers serving supplies, chilled storage, oven setup and allergen labels—items that are easy to overlook until guests arrive. Check dietary requirements before shopping and keep cheese, meat and other chilled toppings cold until they are ready to use.

Tips

  • Plan on 2–3 small pizzas per guest if people are making individual pizzas. Buy extra dough ingredients or prepared dough for about 10% more portions than your confirmed guest count.
  • Prepare at least 3 topping choices plus a vegetarian option, and portion meat toppings separately. Keep tomato sauce, cheese and cut vegetables chilled until you set out the topping buffet.
  • Check your pizza ovens and power requirements at least 7 days before the event. If an oven needs electricity, bring extension cords and power strips that can safely handle the load.
  • Buy or bring one plate per guest, plus 10–20% extra for dropped or used plates. Provide separate pizza plates, drinking glasses, cutlery and serving tongs so guests do not handle shared toppings.
  • Label allergens before guests arrive, especially gluten, dairy and meat toppings. Set aside coolers or other chilled storage and plan at least one waste bin near the buffet and one near the seating area.

Frequently asked questions

How much pizza dough do I need per person for a pizza night?
Allow dough for 2–3 small pizzas per person when guests make individual pizzas. Add about 10% extra dough for second rounds, uneven portions or mistakes during shaping.
How many pizza toppings should I buy?
Plan at least 3 topping combinations, including 1 vegetarian choice, for a mixed group. For each topping, buy enough for roughly 30–50 g per pizza, then adjust for the number of pizzas you expect.
When should I buy ingredients for a pizza night?
Buy dry goods, drinks and decorations up to 7 days ahead. Buy fresh vegetables, cheese and meat 1–2 days before, and keep all chilled products cold until preparation and serving.
What do I need for a pizza night besides ingredients?
You need pizza ovens, pizza peels, cutters, plates, glasses, serving tongs, tables and chairs, plus coolers for chilled toppings. Arrange allergen cards, waste bins and power equipment at least 1 day before the event.
