What You Need for a Paintball Tournament
A paintball tournament needs more than markers and paintballs. You also need enough protective gear, team identifiers, field equipment, refreshments and a simple setup for registration and scoring. Check what the venue supplies before buying anything, especially markers, masks, air tanks and paint. Use your confirmed player count to calculate food, drinks, tableware and spare batteries, then pack everything early enough to handle missing or damaged equipment.

Tips
- Plan paintballs by player and game format, then add a reserve for breaks, missed shots and damaged paint. Keep the extra cases dry and separate from food and drinks.
- Prepare one complete safety setup for every player: a mask, chest protector and gloves. Bring a small number of spare gloves and check every mask before registration opens.
- Give each team a different vest colour and prepare matching field flags, cones and scoreboards. Pack these in one clearly labelled box so setup does not delay the first match.
- Allow at least two drinks per player for the first hour, then add water for the rest of the day. Fill coolers before leaving and keep separate water jugs available at the field.
- Count plates, cutlery, cups and coffee cups against the final guest list, adding at least 10% extra. Pack serving utensils, cutting boards, kitchen knives and warming trays with the catering supplies, not with field equipment.
Frequently asked questions
- How many paintballs do I need per player for a tournament?
- Start with the amount specified by the field or competition format, then add a 10β20% reserve per player. The exact total depends on the number and length of games, so confirm the fieldβs consumption estimate before ordering.
- How much food and drink should I buy for a paintball tournament?
- For a full-day tournament, plan lunch plus snacks and at least two drinks per player for the first hour, followed by regular water refills. Buy 10% extra plates, cutlery and cups so a larger final turnout or accidental loss does not create a shortage.
- What paintball equipment should I bring myself?
- Confirm venue equipment at least 7 days before the tournament. If the venue does not provide it, arrange one marker, mask, chest protector, gloves and air supply per player, plus spare batteries and replacement equipment.
- When should I buy supplies for a paintball tournament?
- Order paintballs and reserve equipment at least 7 days ahead, and complete the food and drink shop 1β2 days before the event. Pack field markers, safety gear and scoring supplies the evening before so the venue can open without last-minute shopping.
