What you need for a motocross camp

Use this shopping list to prepare a motocross camp for riding, camping and meals without last-minute runs to the store. It covers protective gear, tents, cooking equipment, coolers, cleaning tools and supplies for registration and track control. Check how many riders are attending before buying or borrowing equipment, especially bikes, helmets and camping beds. Fuel, oil, drinking water and weather protection are easy to arrange too late, so include them in your first shopping round.

Tips

  • Plan one suitable helmet, set of goggles, pair of boots and complete protection set per rider. Keep at least one spare pair of goggles available for mud, dust or damage.
  • For overnight camping, allow one camping tent and one camp bed per person unless people have confirmed they are sharing. Pack at least one torch per tent and bring extra batteries.
  • Buy or collect fuel and oil before loading the bikes. A compressor, hose and pressure washer are useful at the circuit, but they also need power access, extension cords and power strips.
  • Allow roughly 2 to 3 drinks per person for the first hour, then about 1 drink per hour in warm weather. Use coolers with ice or cold packs and keep drinking water separate from fuel and cleaning equipment.
  • Bring more waste capacity than you expect: one bin near the registration and meal area, plus one near the campsite and riding area. Pack cones, barrier tape and reflective vests before arrival so the site can be marked immediately.

Frequently asked questions

What protective gear does each motocross rider need?
Each rider needs a motocross helmet, goggles, boots, knee pads, elbow protection and a chest protector. Prepare one complete set per rider and keep at least one spare pair of goggles for wet or dusty conditions.
How much drinking water should I buy for a motocross camp?
Plan on at least 2 to 3 litres per person for a full day, then add more for hot weather or intense riding. Keep the supply cold in coolers and store it well away from fuel, oil and cleaning water.
How many tents and camp beds do I need?
Provide one camping tent and one camp bed per person unless participants have agreed to share. Add one extra tent for equipment or changing if the programme lasts overnight and the weather may be wet.
When should I buy fuel, oil and gas for motocross camp?
Arrange fuel and oil at least 2 to 3 days before the camp, then check quantities again when loading the bikes. Collect or refill gas cylinders before departure and keep all fuel and gas separate from tents, food and coolers.
