What you need for a laser tag match

A laser tag match needs more than guns and vests. Plan supplies for registration, team setup, the playing field, refreshments and scoring, then check them before participants arrive. For drinks, allow two to three servings per person during the first hour, plus water throughout the match. Bring chargers, extension cords and spare batteries early enough to test every piece of equipment before the first team is called.

Tips

  • Plan one reusable cup, plate and cutlery set per participant, plus at least 10% extra for replacements. Small bowls and serving platters make snacks easier to manage at the reception or catering table.
  • Charge every laser tag gun, vest and battery pack the day before, then bring battery chargers and extension cords. Test the equipment at least 60 minutes before registration opens.
  • Use team-color ribbons and printed team assignments so groups can be identified quickly. Prepare one set per team and keep a few spare ribbons at the reception table.
  • For an outdoor field, pack inflatable obstacles, traffic cones and barrier tape before the event day. Mark entrances and boundaries clearly, and leave enough tape and cones to replace anything moved during play.
  • Keep drinks cold in coolers with ice packs, and prepare thermos flasks, a coffee maker or kettles if hot drinks are part of the catering. Set refreshments out only after the playing area has passed its safety check.

Frequently asked questions

What drinks do I need for a laser tag match?
Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then at least one drink per person for each additional hour. Bring extra water for warm weather and keep it accessible between matches.
How many laser tag guns and vests do I need?
Plan one working gun and one vest for every participant playing in the same round, plus at least two spare sets if the venue does not provide replacements. Confirm the final participant count before charging and assigning equipment.
What should I bring to mark an outdoor laser tag field?
Bring traffic cones and barrier tape for boundaries, together with inflatable obstacles for cover. Set the field up at least 30 minutes before play and complete the safety check before participants enter it.
When should I prepare the food and drinks for laser tag?
Chill drinks and pack coolers several hours before arrival, while snacks can usually be prepared one to two hours beforehand. Keep food away from the playing field and set up the serving table before registration begins.
