Judo Camp Shopping List
A judo camp needs more than uniforms and mats. You will also need enough belts, training equipment, tables, serving items, chilled drinks and supplies for registration and first aid. Use the shopping list to check what must be bought, borrowed or packed before participants arrive. Count athletes, coaches and helpers separately when estimating food, drinks, chairs and tableware, and allow time to wash produce, chill drinks and set out sandwich toppings.

Tips
- Check the mat area several days before camp and confirm that the full mat surface, cones, marker discs, skipping ropes, soft balls and hoops are available. Add a few spare training items rather than discovering a shortage during a session.
- Count belts by group before shopping: white, yellow, orange, green and blue belts may all be needed. Keep a written count for each colour so grading or grouping does not depend on a last-minute search.
- Plan food and drinks for the complete camp schedule, not only the judo sessions. Buy produce early enough to wash it, chill drinks before arrival and prepare sandwich toppings before the first break.
- Keep registration and match materials separate from sports equipment. Set aside badges, participant lists, match tickets, schedules, scoreboards, a stopwatch and whistles so they are easy to reach at the registration and competition tables.
- Prepare the first-aid table before athletes arrive and check stock at least one day beforehand. Place it near the training area, while keeping waste bins, drinking glasses, plates, bowls and cutlery available where food is served.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a judo camp?
- Plan for judo mats, uniforms, belts in the required colours, cones, marker discs, skipping ropes, soft balls and hoops. Also include a stopwatch, whistles, scoreboards, match tickets and medals if the camp includes matches or grading.
- How much tableware do I need for a judo camp?
- Count one plate, bowl, drinking glass and cutlery set per person for each meal or serving period, then add at least 10% spare. Include mugs, serving platters and serving spoons if hot drinks or shared food are provided.
- When should I buy food and drinks for a judo camp?
- Buy non-perishable items and tableware at least 3 days before camp. Buy fresh fruit and vegetables 1 day before, wash them before service, and chill drinks several hours before participants arrive.
- What should I prepare for judo camp registration?
- Set up a registration desk with tables, chairs, badges and participant lists before the first arrival. Print match schedules and prepare match tickets, scoreboards, a stopwatch and whistles at least 1 day in advance.
