What you need for an integration course
An integration course needs more than workbooks and a classroom. Prepare one complete set of learning materials and stationery per participant, then add the equipment the teacher needs to present and explain the lesson. Plan the room before buying refreshments: tables, chairs, a teacher’s table and a coat rack affect how many people you can accommodate. This checklist also covers the easily missed items, such as spare pens, name badges, power connections and enough mugs, glasses and plates.
The full checklist for this plan is being updated. The tips and answers below still apply.
Tips
- Order one naturalization workbook, course folder and notepad per participant, plus at least 10% extra copies for late registrations or damaged materials.
- Provide one ballpoint pen and one pencil per participant, with 10 spare pens available at the registration table. Name badges should match the final participant list and be ready before people arrive.
- Check the presentation setup at least one day beforehand: test the laptop, projector, screen, speakers, HDMI cable, clicker, power strips and extension cords together rather than separately.
- Count tables and chairs against the confirmed participant list two days before the course. Keep one teacher’s table and place the coat rack near the entrance so registration does not block the classroom.
- Buy refreshments after collecting dietary requirements, and chill drinks before the first arrivals. Set out mugs, drinking glasses and plates only after checking that the catering quantity matches the number of registered participants.
