Golf day shopping list
A golf day needs more than clubs and golf balls. You also need scorecards, pencils, tees, pitchforks and umbrellas on the course, plus drinks, coffee equipment and serving items for registration and catering. This list helps you buy or bring the right supplies before participants arrive. Check quantities against your final participant list, then pack prizes, printed materials and spare equipment together so nothing is left behind on the morning of the event.

Tips
- Plan at least one scorecard, pencil and set of basic course supplies per golfer, then add 10% spares for lost or damaged items. Keep the scorecards and pencils at the registration desk for easy distribution.
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then add water for the rest of the day. Chill drinks in coolers before guests arrive and keep a separate supply for the prize presentation or meal.
- Check golf clubs, balls, tees, pitchforks and umbrellas several days before the golf day, not during setup. Bring spare balls and tees because these are the items most likely to disappear on the course.
- Match plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses and serving spoons to the catering format and guest count. For a buffet, prepare extra serving utensils and use cutting boards, a chef's knife and small bowls for final food preparation.
- Prepare coffee machines, kettles, coffee cups and thermos flasks before registration opens. Test extension cords in advance and keep cables away from walking routes, especially near the registration desk and buffet.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for a golf day?
- For each golfer, plan clubs, balls, tees, a scorecard and a pencil. Add pitchforks, umbrellas and course markings as needed, plus at least 10% spare balls, tees and pencils.
- How many golf balls should I buy per player?
- Buy at least three golf balls per player for a standard golf day, and add 10% extra for losses. For 40 players, that means at least 132 balls when rounded up.
- How much food and drink do I need for a golf day?
- For the first hour, allow two to three drinks per person, including water and welcome drinks. Order catering according to the confirmed participant count and add a 5-10% buffer if late additions are possible.
- When should I prepare the golf day shopping?
- Check equipment and order non-perishable supplies at least one week beforehand. Buy fresh food and chill drinks one day before, then pack scorecards, prizes and course materials the day before the event.
