Golf Day Shopping List
A golf day needs more than clubs and golf balls. You also need a reliable set of scoring supplies, refreshments for the course, dinner service and practical items for registration. Plan quantities from the final participant list, then add a small reserve for lost balls, spilled drinks and last-minute guests. This checklist helps you shop for the playing day and the meal that follows, without leaving essential items until the morning of the event.

Tips
- Plan at least one golf ball and several tees per player, with extra balls available for beginners or difficult course conditions. Confirm whether players bring their own clubs before buying or arranging sets.
- Prepare one scorecard and pencil for each player or team, plus spare scorecards and pencils. Scorecard holders, ball markers and pitchforks are easy to overlook, so check these separately before packing.
- For drinks, estimate two to three servings per person during the first hour, then about one serving per person per hour. Chill drinks in coolers in advance and bring enough water for the full round.
- Match dinner tableware to the final guest count: one dinner plate, dessert plate, knife, fork, spoon, napkin and water glass per guest, with roughly 10 percent extra. Add wine glasses and coffee cups only for the guests who will use them.
- Order or buy prizes before the final week so names, categories and quantities can be checked. Pack team flags, signs and reception materials separately from food and tableware to make setup faster.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need to buy for a golf day?
- Plan for golf balls, tees, scorecards, pencils, scorecard holders, ball markers, pitchforks, team flags and prizes. For the social part, add drinks, dinner and dessert plates, cutlery, napkins, glasses and coffee supplies for the final guest count.
- How many golf balls and tees do I need per player?
- Allow at least one golf ball per player and several tees per player, then add a reserve for lost balls and breakages. For a group of 20 players, buying extra balls and a full additional supply of tees is safer than ordering exactly 20 sets.
- How much food and drink should I buy for a golf day?
- Use the confirmed participant list as your base and add about 10 percent extra tableware and servings where possible. For drinks, estimate two to three servings per person in the first hour, followed by roughly one serving per person per hour.
- When should I buy and pack golf day supplies?
- Buy prizes, printed materials and non-perishable supplies at least one week before the event. Shop for fresh food and chill drinks one day before, then check the complete packing list again on the morning of the golf day.
