What you need for an ergonomics training session
Use this shopping list to prepare an ergonomics training session with practical equipment participants can test, plus the materials needed for registration, teaching and catering. Plan one worksheet, notepad, pen and name badge per participant, then add a small reserve. The hands-on items—ergonomic mice, keyboards, footrests, laptop stands, seat cushions and practice mats—need enough space for demonstrations and rotation. Check quantities against your final participant list at least one week before the session.

Tips
- Buy one worksheet, notepad, ballpoint pen and name badge per participant, plus 5–10% extra for late registrations or damaged items. Print the worksheets at least two working days before training.
- For a practical group, prepare at least one ergonomic mouse, keyboard, laptop stand, footrest and seat cushion for every two participants if people will rotate through stations. Add practice mats according to the exercises in the trainer’s programme.
- Allow one coffee cup and drinking glass per participant, and keep 10% extra available. For lunch, provide one plate and one cutlery set per person, plus serving spoons for each buffet dish.
- Check the presentation, laptop, projector, projection screen and clicker no later than the day before. Bring extension cords and power strips sized for the room, and test every connection before participants arrive.
- Prepare coffee and tea equipment before opening the room: set out the coffee maker, kettles, cups and glasses, and keep the buffet table separate from the registration desk. Put flip chart sheets and markers beside the flip chart so the trainer can start without searching.
Frequently asked questions
- What equipment do I need for ergonomics training?
- Prepare ergonomic mice, keyboards, footrests, laptop stands, seat cushions and practice mats for the practical exercises. A useful starting point is one complete set of each item for every two participants, unless the trainer’s programme requires individual use.
- How many worksheets and pens should I buy for ergonomics training?
- Plan one worksheet, notepad and ballpoint pen per participant, plus 5–10% spare. For 20 participants, that means 21–22 of each item; print and pack them at least two working days before the session.
- How much tableware is needed for a training day?
- Allow one coffee cup and drinking glass per participant, plus 10% extra, and one plate and cutlery set per person for lunch. For 20 attendees, prepare at least 22 cups and glasses and 20 plates and cutlery sets.
- When should I test the projector and training materials?
- Test the laptop, projector, screen, clicker and power connections the day before, then do a short check again when the room opens. Put worksheets, flip chart sheets and markers in place before participant registration begins.
