What you need for an EHBO workshop

An EHBO workshop needs more than first-aid kits. You also need equipment for realistic practice, a clear registration setup and enough supplies for breaks. Plan one chair per participant, at least one training station per small group, and test the laptop, projector and extension leads before the day. Check the participant list and dietary requirements before buying refreshments. The complete plan below keeps the equipment, materials and preparation tasks together.

Tips

  • Set up one resuscitation mannequin and one AED trainer for each practice group, so participants spend less time waiting and more time practising. Confirm the group size before deciding how many stations to prepare.
  • Bring enough disposable practice supplies for repeated exercises: nitrile gloves, sterile gauze, bandages and triangular bandages should be checked before packing. Add spare items because practice materials can be used up quickly.
  • Prepare one name badge and one printed worksheet per participant, plus a few extras for late registrations. Keep them at the registration table with the attendance list rather than handing them out during the workshop.
  • Allow at least one power socket for the laptop and projector, then pack extension leads and power strips as backup. Test the presentation on the actual laptop before participants arrive.
  • For a full workshop day, plan roughly two drinks per person for the first hour and one drink per person for each following hour. Buy coffee, tea and water only after checking the final attendance count and dietary requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need for an EHBO workshop?
You need practice equipment such as resuscitation mannequins, AED trainers and first-aid kits, plus a laptop, projector, screen and timer. Provide at least one practice station per small group and one chair per participant.
How many resuscitation mannequins do I need for an EHBO course?
Use one mannequin for each small practice group. For example, 12 participants divided into groups of four need 3 mannequins; confirm the trainer’s preferred group size before buying or borrowing equipment.
How much coffee and water should I buy for an EHBO workshop?
For the first hour, allow about 2 drinks per person, then 1 drink per person for each additional hour. Buy a small buffer after the final attendance count, and check dietary requirements at least 3 days in advance.
When should I test the projector and EHBO materials?
Test the laptop, projector, screen, extension leads and power strips at least 1 day before the workshop. Check the first-aid and practice materials again while packing, ideally the evening before the event.
