Diving Excursion Shopping List
A diving trip needs more than suits, tanks and masks. Pack practical supplies for the time before and after the dive, including chilled food, drinks, towels and dry storage. Bring enough safety equipment for the group, plus waterproof communication and lighting gear if conditions or the route require it. Check medical certificates, emergency contacts and dietary requirements before shopping, then load food and dive equipment separately so nothing is left behind.

Tips
- Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour after the dive, then add one drink for each additional hour. Pack extra water because dehydration can be easy to miss after diving.
- Allow one towel per participant, plus at least two spare towels for wet equipment, seating or unexpected weather. Keep them in a dry bag or sealed storage box until needed.
- Prepare one reusable cup per participant and bring at least 10% extra. For 20 divers, that means 22 cups, along with coolers for chilled food and drinks and thermos flasks for hot drinks.
- Pack one first aid kit and an oxygen kit where they can be reached without unloading the entire vehicle. Add emergency blankets and waterproof walkie-talkies before departure, not at the dive site.
- Separate personal dive items from group safety gear when loading. Keep masks, fins and dive computers easy to check, while flags, surface marker buoys, lights and rescue equipment remain together for the dive briefing.
Frequently asked questions
- How much water should I bring for a diving excursion?
- Plan at least 1.5 litres of water per person for a half-day excursion, including time before and after the dive. Add 500 millilitres per person for every extra two hours on site, and bring more in hot weather.
- How many towels do I need for a diving trip?
- Pack one towel per participant and two to four spare towels for a group of up to 20 people. Store them separately from wet suits and equipment so everyone has a dry towel after the dive.
- What food should I buy for a diving excursion?
- Choose easy-to-eat food that matches the collected dietary requirements, with one main portion and one snack per person. Buy food at least one day ahead, then chill items before loading the coolers.
- When should diving cylinders be filled?
- Arrange cylinder filling before departure and confirm the fill status during the equipment check on the same day. Do not leave filling until arrival at the dive site unless the location has confirmed that service in advance.
