What to Buy for a Darts Tournament

A darts tournament needs more than boards and arrows. You will need reliable scoring supplies, spare parts, registration materials, drinks and simple serving equipment for players waiting between matches. Buy or collect items according to the number of participants, boards and tournament hours. The quantities below help you avoid the common last-minute problems: missing score sheets, flat markers, broken flights and not enough cups or chilled drinks.

Tips

  • Plan two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one to two drinks per person for each additional hour. Add extra water for players who are throwing throughout the tournament.
  • Buy or prepare at least one spare set of flights and shafts for every two dartboards. Small parts are easy to lose or damage, and replacing them during the tournament is faster than stopping a match.
  • Prepare one printed participant list and enough match forms for every scheduled match, plus 10% extra. Bring spare pens, chalk and scoreboard erasers so scoring does not depend on one shared item.
  • Provide one reusable cup per guest if cups will be washed during the event; otherwise plan two per person. Match plates, cutlery sets and serving trays to the number of people eating, not just the number of players.
  • Check the measuring tapes, oche mats, dartboard brackets and surrounds at least one week before the tournament. On setup day, allow roughly 20 minutes per board to hang, measure and mark the throwing lane.

Frequently asked questions

How many drinks do I need for a darts tournament?
Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour and one to two per person for every following hour. For a four-hour tournament with 20 players, that means roughly 100 to 140 drinks, including water and non-alcoholic options.
How many dartboards do I need for a darts tournament?
Plan one dartboard for each active match lane. If 32 players are split into four simultaneous matches, you need four boards; keep at least one complete spare board or replacement plan available if the venue allows it.
How many match forms should I print?
Print one form for every scheduled match and add at least 10% spare copies. For 40 matches, print 44 forms so a damaged or incorrectly filled-in sheet does not interrupt the schedule.
When should I buy the darts tournament supplies?
Buy drinks, cups, plates and serving supplies two to three days beforehand, then chill drinks on the day before or the morning of the event. Check boards, brackets, oche mats and spare parts at least one week in advance.
