What to Buy and Bring for a Baseball Camp
A baseball camp needs more than bats and balls. You will also need enough gloves and helmets for the group, field-marking supplies, hydration equipment, and a simple setup for registration and meals. Check your existing stock before ordering, especially for youth-sized bats, helmets, bases, and scoreboards. Plan drinks and food around the number of participants, coaches, and supervisors, then pack equipment in labelled waterproof bins so each training block can start without searching.

Tips
- Plan at least one baseball or softball for every active drill group, plus several spares. Count bats, gloves, and helmets by age group rather than assuming one shared size will fit everyone.
- Allow two to three drinks per person for the first hour, then one drink per person for each additional hour. Fill the coolers before participants arrive and keep a separate supply for coaches and supervisors.
- Pack the field kit together: bases, home plates, throwing mats, cones, marker cones, and measuring tapes. Bring extra marker cones because they are easy to lose during field setup.
- Reserve enough helmets and youth baseball bats before registration closes. A last-minute size shortage is difficult to solve once group assignments and training blocks are fixed.
- Set up reusable cups, plates, cutlery, serving platters, pouring jugs, coffee machines, and kettles in one catering area. Bring waterproof storage bins for equipment that must be moved between the field, locker room, and storage area.
Frequently asked questions
- How many baseballs do I need for a baseball camp?
- Start with one ball per active drill group and add at least 10 spare balls for a full camp day. If several groups train at once, count the groups rather than the total number of participants.
- How many baseball gloves and helmets should I bring?
- Bring one glove and one helmet for every participant who will use them at the same time, with several spare sizes available. Confirm the final participant count at least 3 days before camp so missing sizes can still be ordered.
- What drinks should I buy for a baseball camp?
- Budget two to three drinks per person for the first hour and one additional drink per person for every later hour. Add extra water for hot weather and keep drinks chilled in multiple coolers instead of one large container.
- When should I order missing baseball camp equipment?
- Check material stock at least 2 weeks before the first training day and order missing equipment immediately afterward. Recheck the delivery and sizes 3 days before camp, especially for helmets, youth bats, bases, and gloves.
